About WPI
Wahmpreneur Publishing, Inc. is a privately held, woman-owned subchapter-S micro-corporation headquartered in Sidney, New York.
The seeds of Wahmpreneur Publishing, Inc. began in September 1999, when founder Dawn Rivers Baker published the first issue of WAHM & Mompreneur Webzine. Her intent was to fill a gap she had found in the information available online for women operating home-based businesses. While there was a great deal of support and community available for them, Ms. Baker could find no source for hard news -- policy and regulatory information, tips on web site security issues or market information -- for the home-based working woman.
The company was incorporated in New York in March 2000, and the publication's name was changed to Wahmpreneur News Magazine in June 2000 when Ms. Baker was alerted to a trademark conflict in the original name.
To further her efforts to make relevant information available to microbusiness owners, Baker launched Wahmpreneur Books in August 2001 with the publication of its first title, E-Commerce For The Unfunded.
Eventually, as her coverage of small business news evolved, Baker realized that the information she provided was useful for all microbusiness owners, regardless of their gender and regardless of whether theirs was a home-based or a commercially located business. In July 2002, she changed the name of the publication once again, and The MicroEnterprise Journal was born.
Today, Wahmpreneur Publishing, Inc. and it's media properties are becoming recognized nationwide and around the globe as an important — and in many cases, the only — source for microbusiness owners and their advocates to find the crucial public policy information that all business owners need to enhance their chances of success.
